New Member - Orlando 2001 XJ8 L
Hello, I am a new member and I have a 2001 Jaguar XJ8L I bought about 5 years ago with just 47,000 miles on it. I haven't had to do too much to it except replace the front shocks, coils/plugs, one wheel bearing, rebuilt ABS module, one O2 sensor, and just now rear shocks. I now have about 88,500 miles on it. I haven't changed the tensioners yet. I have to save up for that.
I'm a retired widower in Orlando, Florida and I spend most of my year backpacking around the world. I have been hunkering down in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico during Covid. As a result, the car sits for extended periods of time. Usually my son starts it and lets it come to operating temp once a week. Even so, when I get back the dash lights up with error codes. Usually they self fix after the first 50 miles.
This is my second Jag. I had a 92 Vanden Plas that I loved but I drove it until it died. I hated the door handle issue. I can fix things like that, but engine work is not in my wheel house. Looks like I am going to have to learn on my tensioners. I got a quote for $2500 to fix them.

Welcome to the forums jrags0951,
It is best to keep a Jaguar on a battery tender and not start it like that if it is to be unused for lengthy periods.
I see from your IP Address that you are now back in Florida. You can use the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region. I can also see you've already found your way to the X308 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
