Default New Member - P1000 code

I have a 2002 Vanden Plas. Recently replaced both knock sensors with codes P327, P332, P1111. All works great except now engine light comes on with FAILSAFE MODE after few minutes of driving with code P1000. Each time car is turned off, it resets then comes back on after few minutes. Can't seem to get rid of it. Any ideas or strategies?

Hello and welcome,

P1111 is the one code you always want to see. It means System checks have been completed since the last time codes were cleared.

When codes are cleared, P1000 is set until the Drive Cycle is completed and it is then replaced by P1111. The drive cycle can take 100 miles or more depending on driving conditions or can be deliberately completed more quickly by going through a set routine of engine load etc.

Failsafe Mode is never good news. Have you had the codes read again since the P0327 and P0332 were cleared?

That's certainly good news about the codes.

Correct sensors used and no chance the wires were accidentally switched when the sensors were replaced?
