New member in Rhode Island
Good morning everyone.
I am a new forum member located in southern RI.
Having recently retired as an engineer for the Navy and now have more personal time available, I wanted to finally scratch my classic Jaguar itch. This forum is the ideal spot to explore the various models, their pros and cons, and how to select and maintain a good used one.
So no Jag yet but I have been an English car and classic motorcycle fan for years and enjoy the unique driving, maintenance, and repair aspect of ownership they can provide. Motorcycle days are over with today’s traffic and distracted driving but wind in the hair of a modern convertible may do the trick.
The experience accumulated by the forum will be a valuable resource in keeping whatever model I end up with on the road.
I’ll have lots of questions so thanks in advance to the forum for their advice and guidance.
Keep the shiny side up!
Mike

Welcome to the forums Mike,
By "modern convertible" I presume you are considering an F-Type (current), XK/XKR (2006-2014) or an XK8/XKR (1996-2006). Plenty of information and advice on specifications, options, strengths and weaknesses in each of our Model Forums. You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the search for "your" Jaguar and enjoy the forums.

Thank you Grant and GGG for the welcome.
Yes, an XK8, XK, or XKR most likely.
Would love a Mk 2 but older vehicles can be a headache as I found with my AJS, Matchless, and Triumph motorcycle experience. Great bikes but challenging at times. And rust seems to be a real problem as it is on most cars of that era.
Regional links look good. New England area seems quite active and not too far a drive to anywhere.
Best. Mike

Hello, Mike,
There's nothing quite like settling yourself into the seat of a Classic Jaguar after a stead diet of modern Plastic automobilia.
You'll wonder why you waited so long.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
