Default New member saying hi!

Hi guys! Thought I’d introduce myself as I’m hoping to use the forum a lot in the next few months!

I’m Steve, based in Suffolk, England and I just bought an X300 3.2 Jag. I’ve loved cars and motorbikes for as long as I can remember. For the last 10 years or so I wanted to buy an old barge to cruise around in, but I’ve always been terrified of the potential issues and costs.

Anyway, not wanting to let fear get in the way, I bought an XJ6 Executive last week. It has everything that I’m terrified of. About 20 years older than I’d normally buy, about 100k miles more than I’m comfortable with, and no full dealer service history. I figured this project is either going to make or break me!

I had the car inspected by a local Jag specialist so I could get a list of the jobs to tackle, and an indication of the size of problems I’m facing. Suffice to say, the list is long and I’ve definitely got a project on my hands.....

I’ll be off now to an X300 technical area, and I’m REALLY hoping you guys are a helpful bunch. I’ll try and give back whenever I can, but I suspect it may be a bit one sided to start with. Sorry! Look forward to (virtually) meeting you all shortly!

Both my X300 cars were, and still are, rock solid, but we be dry climate down here, you be wet, and rust central.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Steve,

Good to have you with us.

An X300 is the best choice for a first Jaguar. It's probably the most robust model Jaguar built. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
