Hello all -

I recently purchased a 2004 Jag XJR and wanted to access the great wealth of knowledge here by joining the forum. This is my fourth Jaguar, following a 97 XJ6, 02 X-Type and 04 X-Type. I had the others during my 30-year career in Ford Product Development (after Ford bought Jaguar ).

I'm a hands-on DIYer who has restored many cars over the years and is not afraid to tackle mechanical issues, so I look forward to using the tech tips found here. There is also a 1956 Thunderbird in my garage that I restored.

My XJR came with a lot of added chrome which I have now removed to return it to stock. It may appeal to some but just not my thing. I also removed the 20" chrome wheels that came on the car and replaced them with a set of 19" Jupiters from an 08 XKR (thanks Spartan24!). Much improved IMHO.

I look forward to getting to know some of you.

Here are "As-Purchased" and "Present" pics of my car:

Welcome to the forum autoxr1. I really like the "restored" version of your car. I agree there was too much chrome. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Thanks all for the welcomes. I had tried setting up my signature before the first post -- not sure why it did not "take". I will definitely check out the regional forum for other Michigan Jag owners.

I'm now looking forward to doing some mods on my XJR. Obviously it already has window tint applied. One of my sons made me a Father's Day gift of all the LED bulbs needed to switch over the interior, trunk and license lighting, so that will be done soon. I think older cars look much more modern with LED lamps like most of the new ones. I'm also considering whether to dark tint the remaining chrome. Perhaps a light tint on the tail lights as well. I did both on my 2010 Ford Fusion Sport and it looked amazing. It's always fun to consider the mod possibilities for a newly acquired car!
