Hi eveyone, long time viewer first time member. I am on Long Island NY, and have owned a 2000 XK8 black cont for 10 years. Loved the car, like a member of the family, but as of late, too expensive to maintain and I am at a heartfelt painful crossroad as my tranny needs repair. Gear Box fault. AAMCO rebuilt it in 10/09 and is wiling to repair again for parts only. (trying to lock them into a firm price) Thinking of selling. Just some venting today from a new member. I have always enjoyed everyone's helpful and knowledgeable posts. Thank you for listening.

Welcome to the forum Steve,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. Sorry to hear about the transmission issues. I hope you can agree a sensible repair cost.

As a long time viewer you probably already know your way around the forum but if not, follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR section for advice, information and to post your own contributions.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US North East Region section by following this link North East US - ME NH VT MA RI CT NJ NY PA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Hi Steve. Yes it is. 136,000 miles. I purchased it in May 2003 with 14K.
I recently put in a new coolant system, Heater Hoses to the firewall, Tensioners in 2010, and Valve covers & gaskets.
I could not agree on a price with AAMCO. Somehow do not trust them, so car is being flat bedded back to the house. Maybe picture time for posting :-)
