Well I signed up a few months ago but have not posted anything as of yet. I've just been lurking and learning the ways of the Jaguar force.

I'm here because I acquired a 1999 Vanden Plas with 168,000 miles of which I paid a dollar for it. Got it off a friend at work that belonged to his son who also got it for a dollar. These dollar cars are scary to own cause they are always full of problems and this car is no exception. Starting with a bad fuel pump, that's the first thing I repaired on it. At least it runs. The battery was dead from sitting for a year so I topped it off and charged it for a week. I'm almost tempted to say the battery is good as new, but it starts right up.
Next I got some new pirelli cinturato p7's then I went to work on the mechanicals.

Anyway that's my intro. I will be posting a lengthy post on my exploits so far.
I've always wanted a Jaguar and now that I have one, I will enjoy bringing it back from the brink.

You can put a Lot of love into a Dollar car and still come out ahead for the fun factor alone! Think of the Learning Experiences you can tell others when you get together swapping lies, er, uh, Stories.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum jumanjii1,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

It sounds like you've already found your way to the X308 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Hey there jumanjii1,

Mighty fine for a dollar car! I like the color of it too

Looking at the pics, just wondering, is the hood not closing completely on the passenger side? Just asking because I had that issue on my '88 and it was driving me bonkers. Until I found I could adjust the length of the catch pin with a large flat head screwdriver. Each catch pin should be slotted at the tip so you can loosen ( make longer) or tighten (make shorter) the pin. If this is what's up, just thought I would share that with ya.

At any rate, Welcome! ( from one n00b to another )

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.
Actually JRobicheau, I closed the hood to take that picture and left it ajar on purpose. Those two plastic shields on either side are not on rigid as the plastic guides pins under them have broken off. I just insure the shields are centered on the locking holes before I close the hood. I do have the guide pins and will try and glue them back on.
Thanks for the idea.

Gotcha I had only noticed it cuz it was such a peeve of mine with my Jag... Sounds like your guide pins are plastic ... or similar? Mine are aluminum, and they do the locking into the latch mechanism. Prolly some differences between our Jags

I love that color too on yours ( The jag color pallet in general speaks for itself ) You are also fortunate to have the 4 round headlamps. I have the large rectangular ones... and one needs replacing... $650.00 **IF** I can find one! :P LOL ( My parts guy says its a challenge! )

TY for the reply

Cheers!
