I am a retired Uk citizen living in France, and have just finished rebuilding my XJS. My friend in Australia has just told me about this forum and I have just joined. I do all the work on the car myself in a big draughty barn.

Thanks to everyone for the kind and warm welcome. I will post some pics as soon as I work out how. Having rebuilt the car from empty shell upwards during the last year, I started to drive it again this last summer. Absolutely great after 5 years of no XJS. This winter's work is a complete rebuild of the front suspension (reinstalled unchanged before as I was frightened of too many bits on the floor), more than half done, thanks to the mild weather. Lovely new bolts and bushes all over it.

Cheers
Greg

Thank you for the pic help. I have used photobucket so here goes, it should be a pic of the flying buttress welded repair, before filling and painting:

Fingers crossed

Greg

I'm also new to the Forum, retired and living in France (in the Creuse, 23)
The forum is one of the nicest I know (one very good metal detecting one but most of the audiophile ones are very clannish).
There's also a colossal amount of good info here but I find it easier to find by using Google rather than the inbuilt search engine.
Where are you?
Welcome.

Greg,

Once you get that engine sorted, I expect you'll be heading over to the 'detailing' forum to find out what to do with the liberal coating of Burgundy mud all over the front.

Engine crane looks a substantial piece of kit with a good lift height.
