Hey chaps. Logging in from NZ with a 1988 XJ40 Sovereign with the 3.6.

Needs a bit of work but it was super cheap and mechanically appears to be all there. Just need to battle with a bit of rust and get a few bits working properly again.

Have built a couple of Subarus and owned quite a wide range of cars but this is the first Jag and first British car! Quite liking it so far even if the engineering seems a bit weird when im used to Japanese econo-boxes.

Im sure this forum will be a valuable resource.

Welcome to the forum keltik,

Congratulations on the XJ40. It'll certainly be a bit different to working on Japanese econo-boxes!

Still auto. Moved here from the UK 10 years ago and remember my uncle worked for Jaguar and drove a supercharged XJ300. Made me want one!

Heres the best pic ive got so far. Its winter here and dark whenever i get home from work;

The last couple of days have involved basic tinkering. New diff oil (oil stuff was tar), new thermostat (old one jammed open) and new stereo. Currently battling with getting my new speakers to fit in the early door cards.

XJ40 looks good even with the limitations of winter photography. Good luck with the speaker battle.
