New from Northern CA
Hello all, my name is Cody and after searching for a larger vehicle than my Rancheros to cart my 3 grandchildren around I purchased a 2004 XJ8 Base model with approx 84,000 miles (built in April of 03), a lot of paperwork and in fairly good shape. I needed to replace a front strut (leaked down overnight) and still need to do some cosmetic work. (Corners are drooping on the rear head liner, I have a few scratches on the rear bumper and a noticeable quarter size ding in the middle of the front passenger door). Since I live in northern California I would like to do a real tune up, new coils, spark plugs, better air filter, etc. before my smog check in June. I do not have any codes after fixing the leaky strut and running better fuel plus a bottle “Techron Injector Cleaner” and 8 oz. of Sea Foam (I forgot to put in premium fuel and put about 12 gallons of super store regular in her.) I do 99% of my own wrenching however this is the newest car I have owned in many years. (No window tint.)
I prefer old cars. I have several projects on hold for the moment including a numbers matching 1971 E-type FHC with one of the last 6 cylinders. I will post more in the garage section.
I look forward to sharing my exploits with this great car. It is surprisingly fast but I don’t get to stretch her legs much so my fuel mileage is terrible around town. I can promise that if a have a problem that I post about I will keep everyone informed of how things work out. Glad to be here. Now I will spend some time searching through the posts to see what is there.
