Hello everyone, I'm now the proud owner of a '98 XK8 coupe with 90k miles on it that I picked up today for $2,500. This is my first Jag but the coupe is such a work of art - I love it!!!

That being said, I knew going into it that it might have a possible transmission problem; we were able to drive it onto the trailer (the seller said it wouldn't shift into 3rd or 4th gears - when I got it home the only gear it would go into was reverse (and park). The shifter itself will go to all positions in the j-gate but won't engage any of the forward drive gears - it does disengage when put in the neutral position.

Does this sound like a linkage, computer or transmission issue?

Welcome! If I had to guess, I would say check your trans fluid level/condition.
