Newb here
Greetings Everyone,
Glad I found this forum/web address. I'm hopeful for answers and guidance in this new ownership of my 1996 XJ6 Jaguar.
I bought it used a couple of weeks ago. It now has 46,308 original miles on it. It's here in Gilbert, AZ, USA. I bought it from an elderly woman, 74 years old to be exact, not that that's old, it's a matter of perspective, and an entirely different subject. She is the second driver of the vehicle, the first was her daughter, who lived in the LA area, and never drove it much. She usually had her driver do all chauffering. Her daughter was an actress. Anyway, the vehicle is 16 years old now, and showing it's age slightly.
I think I made out OK...we got it for $2500 after all the negotiations. New tires, cold a/c, drives straight without drifting, straight body, usual dings and small dents here and there, new oil, lube, NO OIL LEAKS ANYWHERE!!, no strut weaping, maybe needs a left motor mount, radio works nicely, interior leather with no rips, stains, tears, holes, etc. Ceiling upholstery is brand new. All compartments close and open without trouble. Car doors close solidly. Trunk and hood is the same with new looking fabric to both. Need a new antenna mast...I can do that!
I need a key less entry fob at some point, need a review mirror at some point, need a center vent at some point.
That's about it. Hope I didn't get taken too much. I know nothing about Jaguars. I've heard this was a good year of manufacture. I've also heard it's good year if you have enough dough. I'll try to get pictures up as soon as I can. We had a 2000 Mercedes S430 until it started drinking too much out of my pocket book! I'm usually a Chevy owner truth be told. But I thought this might be to good to pass up.
Looking forward to sharing some of my experiences on this board. And hearing about others.
Robin.
