NewB NW Iowa

NewB NW Iowa
Hey kitties, I'm from northwest Iowa about 3 miles south of the Minnesota border and a bit west of beautiful Lake Okoboji, IA. I've been in love with Jags since I was a young'un.
After I quit circle track dirt racing in '05 my gorgeous wife found me an 82 XJ6 in Oklahoma that was advertised on this site. It didn't run, but only had 32,200 original miles for $1500. Trailered it back 730 miles to Iowa and got to work.
Guy said the mechanic told him not to drive it due to a gas (petro) leak. ? how long it sat not being driven. By the looks of the black gas it had to be over 5 years. I still haven't finished cleaning out the passenger side tank, but the drivers side is ok after repetetive draining, acetone, scraping, etc (oh yeah, a chevy 350 distributor gasket is a perfect temp fit for the drain plug). New fuel filter, clear pre-filter and a new fuel pump and she came to life! The gas leak...just had to tighten up the hose clamps!! Body is solid minimal rust little pocket on one fender, small bubble on the rear window, but the guy must have stored boxes on her, so the paint has a lot of scratches through the clear.
Have only driven her 500 miles since, but I'm definitely in love. I would drive her more, but I hate driving it 5 mph for about 1 kilo on the gravel road that I live on.
Have found some of my questions answered on here already-like the shock bushing being worn out making a "thumping" noise, brake lights not working, and the headliner sagging. You guys know your stuff, looking forward to joining in the purring.

troubles
Thanks for the welcome Jim-if it bothered me to be called moron I wouldn't have used the name...no apologies required!
I had troubles making the photobucket pic link work...haven't had any troubles on the other two vBulletin forums that I am a member of? ...edit...fixed it by changing from fancy text to standard.
Anyway, this is from my photoalbum on this site. I can get the link to add the water effect to your pics if interested. That's my oldest boy Simon (3 now) ejecting through the roof the second summer I owned her (2006). We moved out of town shortly after, so newer pics will have a better countryside background.
