Dealak here. Mechanic for my wife's 2000s type 4.0L jaguar v/8
Charleston, Oregon
Currently replacing valve cover gaskets, coils 'n' plugs.
I see here I have the early/plastic timing chain tensioners. Hmmm?
They seem tight and I see no cracks- the mileage is 67,000 +or - 10k.
Would I, could I, should I replace them?
Seems like a bit of a job...or, a bit of a risk.
Advice?

Hello, Dealak,
About your tensioners, someone will be along soon to direct you to our very active S-type section where members will be able to tell you all about them, including if you should change them now or if you can wait.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums.
If it's for the other half should it wait?
Enjoy the drive.

Welcome to the forum Dealak,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Definitely replace them - it's a ticking bomb.

The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/

Welcome.

As said, do them NOW, the cost later will be horrendous.
