Smile Newbie: 2007 XK 4.2 Coupe

Just took delivery of the "new toy" -- a 2007 XK Coupe with all the add-on packages, and a complete service history since new.

With 77,000 miles on it, the only outstanding service item I can find is transmission fluid and filter replacement, all of the other "known" problem areas have been fixed.

I have been a Saab fan for decades and have probably close to 750,000 miles in Saab 900s and 9.3s -- so the Jag is a bit of a change.

I am keeping the Saab Aero (ever so slightly modified LOL) as my daily driver until it dies -- probably another 200,000+ miles -- but look forward to using the XK as the Grand Touring car for those long interstate trips.

Welcome to the Forums.

Yep, clean oils/fluids, clean fuel, clean air, they will go insane miles, mine all have.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Kiaorana,

70K miles is the right time for a transmission fluid and filter change so it's not far beyond. I used my last 2007 for extensive European touring but the present travel restrictions have so far limited me to only one long trip in my current XK.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk-xkr-x150-33/ to the X150 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks Grant!

I am kinda "Old School". Always garage the car, keep it clean, change fluids frequently and use quality synthetic oils. My Saabs typically ran over 300,000 miles and I am expecting at least 200,000 from the XK LOL

Thanks Graham: Useful information.

I I have already been through the Newbie FAQs page, and found the XK/XKR forum but had no idea the was a Westen Regional group.

I am fortunate to have Scott Savage, the former Western Regional Rep for Jaguar as a neighbor -- a handy resource.
