Hi guys, I’ve been using the forums for a while but never posted, this is my first post. I have a 2019 XJL Portfolio 3.0L supercharged, RWD, gasoline engine. I’m located in Columbus Ohio. I bought the car as a certified preowned in August 2024 from Jaguar of Ft Myers (Florida).
The car has approximately 45,000 miles on it. It’s in great shape, all I’ve done so far is used some black leather die to clean up the driver seat and the driver side door panel, where the previous drivers arm rubbed the coloring off a bit. I did put a cold air intake, filters and tube, from Mina Gallery, the supercharger whine is so much louder now. I’m 47 years old and I don’t beat on it, but it is nice to have the sound when I do get on it a bit.
I have factory (CPO) warranty on it until June 2025, and I am contemplating switching over the coolant pipes. So far, there is no evidence of leaks, but I do smell coolant every once in a while. I made a contact at the local dealership to discuss the possibility of me buying metal pipes and having them install them under warranty. I would pay out-of-pocket for the parts and they would perform the labor and service under warranty. The service advisor seemed open to this idea, and he did tell me that they all eventually leak. He said it’s just a matter of time. He also shared that there is an updated Jaguar plastic set of pipes that “fixes the problem “. He said he has never seen one back in for leaking pipes once the upgraded plastic parts were installed. Does anyone have any advice on this scenario, should I switch to the aluminum pipes or just use the upgraded manufacturers plastic pipes? I’m of the mind to do all of the plastic coolant pipes, including the rear crossover, do you all agree with that line of thinking?
I truly don’t know how long I’ll keep the car, but if it treats me well I would like to keep it for five years or so. I only drive it on the weekends and maybe put 100 to 200 miles on it a month.
I’m certainly open to any other suggestions with upkeep, maintenance or tricks. I do love these cars when they are running properly.
Side-note, I had a 2014 XJL portfolio AWD with a 3.0L as well. When I traded it in, I was notified it had an oil leak, which I was unaware of. On that particular car, I added the cold air intake, the supercharger lower pulley, and a tune. However, that car had a difficult time with the tune, and it was de-tuned a bit from the original numbers to get the car to accept the tune. The performance was not all that much better. I have no plans to do a supercharger pulley or tuner on this car, as I’m a bit older now and I’m looking for you Reliability and longevity versus speed. I contemplated getting the 5.0 L, but due to fuel costs, and the knowledge that I would probably get myself in trouble with that car, I chose the 3.0L.
Thank you all for input/ advice or just general comments.
