Hey I bought my first Jaguar a few months ago. I got a 97 XK8 with 63000 miles. Since then I have put about 7000 miles on her and I have loved every minute.
I am a medically retired army veteran. I enjoy working on my own vehicles. I wouldnt consider myself a mechanic due to having no formal training but Im pretty handy with a wrench.
I am here to learn and save some money. Networking is a great tool to have at your disposal.
Thank you guys for accepting me into your group and hopefully I can use the information on this Forum to complete some of my upcoming jobs.

Hello, Josh,
The first mechanics had no formal training, they learned as they went; which is not all that hard to do.

Many of the very best mechanics in here have no formal training either, they learned as they went along and actually Remembered what they learned, which can't always be said about Formal Training.

One of the great things about having no formal training, is that your mind isn't cluttered up by things you'll never use but which are "required" by the 'learning' institution.
