Default Newbie - buying my first!

Hello everyone, wonderful to meet you all!

New member here in the process of buying my first Jag.

Based in Cambridge, UK, I was always listing after my father's white 3.2 XJ40. You know, the price with the square headlights and the gold line down the side.

A few run-ins with Mazdas, BMWs, and a Focus for a while, I finally bit the bullet and decided to go ahead with purchasing a beautiful V8 RWD ftype. Wish me luck on the journey, I'm sure I'll be needing it!

Welcome to the forums Benji17,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the F-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. You can also use the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums and the delights of a V8 whilst you still can. Won't be long before we're all driving glorified golf carts.

Sound advice! I'll do all of this. Exactly the reason I went full fat on the V8. Didn't seem like there will be many around in future and, while I love the 5.0 XKR, there's a lot of drama in the F-type while it's still with us.

I've considered the switch to F-Type twice and pulled out both times because we use the XK for Continental touring and need the additional luggage space. Of course, that decision was made before the pandemic!

No joke at all: I've discussed the XK as a 2nd "more practical" car several times over, though I really love the lines of the late XJ. It's a lovely choice to ponder on. Post pandemic, I'll have a good idea about how much an F-type can hold and go back into discussions with a better "pro" and "con" list
