Newbie needs help with trunk lid

Welcome to the forums gretaset20,
You need to determine if it is simply misaligned or distorted through accident damage. Alignment is by adjustment of the hinges to lid positions at the bolts for vertical and horizontal setting and at the lock and for vertical adjustment to produce a consistent gap to the surrounding panels. Sounds easy but can be very time consuming and frustratiing to get it right.

Hello,
I have some experience re-setting hoods and trunk lids, and it's a situation where you either luck out and get it right pretty quickly, or you fight with it until you want to stuff a rag in the gas tank and light it off.
From my perspective of great distance, it doesn't look unacceptable but it's not my car. And I do understand how something like this can eat at you until you're satisfied with Perfection.

Virginia Beach Jaguar lover
My name I Greta! I forget to introduce myself in the previous post! I have always wanted the Jaguar F-TYPE in Italian Racing Red and I finally got! I have been speeding all around the Virginia Beach area, but haven't got stopped yet! But I enjoy making my neighbors jealous! I am glad that I found this forum which was suggested to me by a Valvoline mechanic!

From one Virginian to another: WELCOME!!!
Dwayne
P.S. Greta, may I humbly offer an opinion on your trunk realignment? Seek out the best auto body shop in your area and let a professional take care of it... this is an area where one misstep in the process of attempting a DYI fix could inflict further damage. A reputable shop should be able to realign your trunk lid in very short order and for a reasonable price and if not, they should be able to explain why it isn't possible. Good luck!
