Newbie Question
Hi everyone.
For your information, I just obtained a Jaguar 1992, xj6 Sovereign, that have been negleted for awhile. It's is running fine, but it needs some TLC big time, I am going to take my time, to clean it, and do,lots of stuff, I am not a mechanic but I've changed, radiators, water pumps, alternator, but never worked on a Jaguar before. I heard rumors about how complicated this cars were engine wise, but when I opened the hook, I saw nice big engine with a big space to work around, and very straight forward, so, here I am asking questions, and hopefully with the help all this knowleadge people, I could bring this baby back on the road in not time.
So far, what I have done to the car was replace the hose that supply the winshield liquid cleaner, it was rotten all the way from the winshield to its container. total cost 11 dollar, a dollar per foot hose.
Since I was playing with the washer, I removed a panel that support the washer nozzle and painted in black, it looks like new cost less than 3 dollar.
I live in Miami, Florida, never have a Jaguar, before, but that was my dream car.
I already bought the manual for this car and few items, that I will tackle later, like thermostate, and hoses etc....I have a laundry list, some minor body repair, and a major paint job, that of course I can't handle it.
When I got this car the instrumental panel was working fine, until I decide to go over the fuses box, I think there is like 3 compartments of fuses, one at the console and two on each side.
Some of this fuses, were missing and some where they should not be, for instance, instead of having a fuse for 10 amps, someone put 25 amps etc, it was a mess, I straigh that up, but when I turned my ignition key, to my surprise all the instrument panell is off, and there is a fused rated 3amps, that handles the gauges, but is blowing up, now, this fused had one before rated 25amps but I replaced with a 3amps that's what is calling for, but its blowing, if a put a 10 amps it does not blow but still the gauges panel still off.
Any help on that matter will be appreciate it.
thanks
Gus
