Newbie - Willy D
Good Afternoon Jaguar Enthusiast,
My name is Michael and I have owned my 2000 Jaguar XJ8 since March of 2007. I am 17 years into my military career. I simply love this car. This car has been with me through some rough patches in my life (couple of family member deaths, both kids being diagnosed with cancer, the whole 9). I taught 2 of both of my kids to drive in this vehicle and it would hit me hard if I had to get rid of it. At one weak point ( my daughter's diagnosis with leukemia two week after her 10th birthday), I was going to get rid of the vehicle because I didn't want any unnecessary distractions in the efforts to get my daughter back to full health. My wife talked me into keeping the car. We just received word that my daughter is in molecular remission (thank God!!). Two more IV treatments, and she should be ringing the bell around December/January time frame. I am here to keep up with changes in the community and to fix the compression issue I currently have with my vehicle. I appreciate everyone in the forum with speedy replies. I look forward to meeting you all. Be easy, be safe.

Welcome Mike!
I get where you're coming from with regard to rough patches; I lost my best friend, two other really close friends, my mother, and my only sibling all within 18 months. I've not had to deal with my children's health, but my wife was incapacitated twelve years ago by a massive stroke and is now, in addition to that, dealing with a disease that will ultimately be terminal. I'm so happy to hear that your daughter is responding well to treatment.
I presume you're speaking of Oceanside, California. I have a dear friend in Oceanside who is currently overseeing the restoration of a 1974 Ford Pinto Runabout that I purchased in the San Diego area (I simply don't have time for a project). If you happen to see a shiny orange Pinto with Virginia license plates tooling around out there, that's my car!

Hello, Mike,
Some people simply do Not understand the need for something Stable, a cherished material object, in one's life when things are in the toilet. They have obviously never suffered emotional trauma -- Yet.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Yes I'm currently in Oceanside, CA and have been looking around for an orange Pinto. I saw an orange 76 Beatle. Still keeping my eyes open for it. You have definitely been through alot as well. All we can do is count blessings and continue to push. Thanks for the positive feedback!!
