Default New'ish Member Intro

Hello Jaguar owners and enthusiasts. Bill Combes here from Palm Beach County, FL. A year ago I took a leap of faith and purchased an 2001 Jag XK8 convertible with 58K on the odometer, through, of all places FB marketplace. The seller was close by and it was a very fair price. Knowing this gorgeous automobile was gonna need some love. Being a bit of a DIY kinda guy lead to my purchase, but completely unfamiliar with British engineering, though aware this model was under Ford's leadership. YouTube has been a great aid! First thing I did was change all fluids, flushed coolant, Transmission fluid was nasty, new air and fuel filters, thermostat, seat modules rebuilt, replaced speed sensors, replaced upper control arms/bushing, rebalanced wheels. Still having some front end vibration, I had the front shocks and upper mounts changed. Then I changed all Coil Packs & plugs. The driver side rear 1/4 window busted in down position(they rust), looked like a bigger job then I wanted to take on, so had a local Jaguar shop do it(not dealership). She starts a little rough occasionally, which I believe to be the Throttle Body & I believe the ABS module needs changing. My main concern is the timing chain guides, my Jag Guy says they're not the troublesome plastic ones, based on the vintage I believe it's on the borderline. Input welcome(Date of Mft 04/01)?!?!

Welcome again Bill,

Good to hear you are enjoying the forums. You already posted an Intro thread last June:

I wouldn't diagnose tensioners in any way other than by pulling the cam covers and inspecting them for type and condition. The only type that isn't potentially troublesome is the final fourth generation.
