Smile Hi from Salo, new member intro

Hi,

glad to be here and make an intro.

just got a XKR Convertible from year 2001 and I am so far very pleased with it but I am fully aware of that repairs and service are expensive on these type of car's and with experience from my previous SL 500 and Porsche 928s this car will not be different.

got it of a dealer at a fare price with new 285 rear and 255 tires on 20" alu wheels. the car condition is fairly ok considering it's 16 year's old and has run 14.400 km. the engine sound good and it shifts very nice and there are no scratches etc on the external body, inside all the leather etc is without and damages and all electricity is working. service's like oil replacement and filters are also done on regular intervals and it went through inspection without any faults whatsoever.

however, there are two issues I have to fix on this car, first, one error code P105 must be fixed, either it's the MAP sensor or some wiring or loose hose, this must be fixed first. second, I'm gonna replace the cam shaft tensioners to alu ones and I will get a complete kit, including new chains and replace both the upper and lower ones. ones this is done I will feel that the car is more reliable.

will - that was a long intro, once again glad to join the forum.

Welcome to the forum Salo,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

You may wish to add a transmission fluid change to your 'to do' list. This is not in the Jaguar maintenance schedules but many members experience has proved a change at around 70k miles greatly extends the life of the so called 'sealed for life' transmission.

Follow this link XK8 / XKR ( X100 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

You can also visit the Europe Region forum by following this link Europe - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Hello, Salo,
That engine is just now well loosened up! No wonder it runs so smoothly. You should get at Least another 90,000 out of it!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
