Default Noobie I am! Hello Please Help Me! :)

Hello everyone, i just purchased a '98 Jag XJR last week. I'm regretting it already. The vehicle popped up with the "low coolant" light. I was able to take care of take of that with the information I gained here. Thank You ALL!

But I noticed a line that runs from the top of the coolant reservoir to the driver side fender that leaks coolant. Is that the overflow tank? I felt like all the coolant I poured into the reservoir was coming back out of that line. The "low coolant" light didn't turn back on, though I fear it will after a few miles of driving.

Welcome to the forum JackyT,

Good to hear you've already found the answer to the Low Coolant Level (Sensor?) here but sorry that you've still got cooling system issues.

I wouldn't usually answer a tech question in the Intro section but you sound as if you need some quick help to reverse the regrets! I think you mean the Expansion Hose (item 4):

You need to take care of any coolant leaks immediately on the V8 because serious damage can occur with overheating.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section for help, advice and information. If you're new to this model, the 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You may also like to visit the US Western Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Default Found Myself in the Same Boat

This is yet another time I'm admitting to being a dufus. I broke mine a while back at the radiator end of a line while changing my serpentine belt. Note: do not use it to prop your arm on while loosening the idler pulley. I ordered mine online from a place called Jagbits for about 20 bucks. Didn't even need any tools to replace them (I did both). The old one just snaps off, and the new one just snaps on. Best of luck.
