I am the proud new owner of a lovely black convertible 1999 XK8. It is the last in a string of interesting vehicles I have had a s a serial car lover. My first was a Volvo P544 which was not fast but with Italian radials, handled like a dream. I went from that to a Volvo 1800ES, which had speed and handling and still has lines which attract the eye. From there I went through a string of American (Canadian) cars and trucks which all had their uses. An Olds 442 gave me some of the most excellent highway miles a guy could want with speed and handling. I drove a few late '50s and early 60's half tons, often with modern powertrains and then a crew cab one ton four wheel drive Dodge truck with 19 in wheels, heavy bumpers and an 8000lb Warn winch - the ultimate hunting vehicle. Following that were a few family vehicles including a Mercury Sable which was t-boned with me in it when another fellow ran a stop sign and into me. Eventually, that helped pay for Miss V. She may not be the fastest car I have owned and she cannot haul quad motorbikes and gear through the bush worth a darn. She is not even very good at taking a crowd to the movies but she is the prettiest and best handling car I have ever owned. She has been parked in a snowbank almost since the day I bought her but it is going to warm up on the weekend and I will take off her cover and head for the big city. I can't wait.
