Is it worth the expense of replacing VVT units? I have two new VVT units.

Default Previous cars

I have had four jags. My first back in the 60's was a beautiful XK150 SE. Drophead., Which I sold in 66 for £295. Then a M2 3.8 sold for£200.. I then had a XJ6 3.2 lovely car but started to rust badly which I have to my Jag mechanic (who passed away last month). Now mechnicless sigh. My present JAG is a 1998 XJ8 litre LWB. I have maintained it regardless of cost for te last 9 years. I have a rattle underneath, Not shockers. Three garages looked before the last told me it was anti roll bar bushes. I had suspected the VVT unit was rattling so managed to buy two new ones, only to be told it is the top timing chain. Probably the tentioner. I had all the timing chains act upgraded a while back. But hey, I love the car, magnolia hide pipes brown and metallic Samantha (aubergine) Would it be prudent to change the VVT units while the front is off?
Cheers Travers. ( South England).
