Default Owner of 94 xj6 Vander plas with electrical problems

Hey guys, I bought a 94 Vander plas for 3500.00 and I knew I got a great deal. Initially the lady I bought it from had to jump start it cause "it was sitting so long". It was all good as the car is in cherry shape other then a couple electrical problems like the windows on the passenger side don't go up or down, and the driver side door panel is unsecured. Also the heater and a/c weren't working. I got the car home and parked it. Went out the next day, dead. I tried jumping and Even charging the battery but to no avail. Nothing from the ignition. I had a friend of mine take a look at everything and ultimately after an hour of looking at it, said "just buy a brand new battery". Did that and all was good. Everything other then the windows worked. Next as we were driving, the antenna in the back wasn't going up or down so the radio was pretty crappy. I had somebody look and rewire everything under the shifter and they got the antenna in back to go up, but ultimately ended up getting my stereo fried and now my radio is fried, my dome lights don't work and my dash lights stay on after I turn off the ignition causing me to have to disconnect the battery Everytime i get out of the vehicle. I also have the lighting bolt symbol and battery light on the dash constantly on. I know the lighting bolt is because of a "fuse" but the battery light I have no idea as it's at 12 volts. If you have any kind of info as to what may be going on, I'd greatly appreciate it cause I can't afford to take my ride to the Jaguar dealer. Thank you,
Frank Houghton

Welcome to the forum Frank,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. It's Vanden Plas - is the badge damaged?

Jump starting a Jaguar the wrong way can fry sensitive electronics and the battery issues could well have begun with a faulty alternator.

Hello, Frank,
That's pretty poor! Just got a new Jag (Congratulations on that, by the way) and now it won't start!?
I hope you get that all sorted out.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
