Default Peter

I have just joined the forum. Live in South Africa where the currency is losing value and the valuable cars are becoming increasingly scarce.

I have a 1962 series 1 OTS and a 1967 Series 1 2+2.

Going to need some advice on whether the 2+2 is worth restoring or would it be best to break it up.

Welcome.

I think that any E Type is a keeper. Sometimes the sense of that is wildly against logic, but they are THIN on the ground anywhere in the world in any condition.

Welcome to the forum Peter,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

It would be a shame to break any E-Type but restoration costs can be high so you need to do a critical assessment of the work required and how much of it you can do yourself.

Follow Norri's link in post #4 to the E-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you for the welcome. There are a good number of enthusiasts here. Many of our cars have been exported due to our currency failure.

I sold my XKR and now have the 2 Series 1. Sometimes I wonder at the thought process. Have several Healeys as well.

Thanks for reply. They are thin on the ground. The OTS Series 1 needs little but some preservation. The 2+2 is however another question. On the face of it sinking a substantial chunk of cash into seems wasteful. May be better to buy another more worthwhile Series 1 and spend the money there. Biggest issue is a new bonnet. I have a Series 3 bonnet but they aren't compatible.

I shared that sentiment but emotion sometimes rules out sense.
