Questions about 2000 XJR
Hi everyone, im posting for a friend of mine that has recently purchased a 2000 XJR Supercharged . Its an awesome ride and looks great, but he has a few issues he wants to get resolved.
Since its a 2000, this would mean he has the 2nd generation tensioners on the timing chains. The car currently has 60k miles on it. Whats the general estimation for replacement. (theres no noise or rattling)
Another thing he said hes noticed is that the car can sometimes accelerate out of the hole real fast and stay consistent but other times theres a significant noticable difference in performance. What could cause such a problem? Oil consumption is in good shape.
Lastly, does anyone have any times on a 2000 XJR ( 0-60 and the Qtr mile)
We noticed the lack of performance on alot of runs when doing 0-60 times.. The best was a 5.8.. consistant in the very low 6's but we would get random times of high 7's.. even a few times in a row.
Any other information regarding any known problems with a 2000 XJR or anything to answer my questions above will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the classic case of bad coils and spark plugs. Try replacing the fuel filter, the air filter, and buying ultimate gas as well. Also replace the tranny fluid! Very important! In my country we call this a tune-up! (sorry about the sarcasm, but I'm bored)!

I assume you have it in sport mode on the transmission.
I have a 200 xk8, hopefully I can be some sorta help.
With my car tho i notice that the accleration in 1st gear is horrible, then once it gets into 2nd it is the fastest thing i;ve ever been in, you knwo what i'm saying.
