Exclamation Reading issues

My 2018 Jaguar F-Type R is not recognizing my fob to start engine, all other features are working fine. I have to place the fob on the indentation under the buttons for opening the hatch to start the car, otherwise all is good. Has anyone experienced this issue and know what the problem is?

Hello,
When my car does that, it's telling me the fob battery is dead.
Could be your problem too.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

The battery has been replaced/tested? I can operate all functions on my key fob from the basement of my house but inside the car it will not start unless I place the key on the alternate location under the rear hatch buttons (that indentation).

Welcome to the forums sax01ftr,

That IS an odd one. The system usually recognises the fob from anywhere inside the vehicle unless the fob battery is low and then the vehicle must be started in the way you describe. Likely to require a diagnostics session to determine how and where the signal is failing.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/f-type-x152-72/ to the F-Type forum for help, advice and information. You can also use the US Lower Mid Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-mid-atlantic-65/ to find other members in your region.
