Default Restore s3 xj6

Ok , just took "delivery" of my 1st Jag.. a '86 s3 xj6 Sovereign. Car was saved from the hydraulic press and shredding machine by my son who is a plant mechanic at a metal recyclers .He coughed up $AU 350 to salvage the car to use as a daily drive because it was complete , running and had 4 months registration remaining. I "demanded" that he donate to Dads project list when the time came and now have it stashed in my garage . I give it 2.5 points out of 10 condition wise . 1 point as its complete and straight ,1 point cos it runs and a half point for the fact its roadworthy with rego still active ! Paint is crap( Burgundy ) ,as is the interior.....particularly the dashboard . Pleasing is the motor/driveline which purrs... done a round trip Sydney/Canberra (500+km) and the Cat performed admirably. So now its time to start dismantling British Leylands flagship in a 2yr rebuild/restore .I will post pics and I'm looking forward to any input and advice the Jag Forums members can offer .

Welcome to the forum wynr,

Good to you here with us at Jaguar forums.

I'm surprised a running XJ would be sent for scrapping as I often read posts from Australian members about the high values of older Jaguars. Best of luck with the project.

Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ6 Series I, II & III forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Australia / New Zealand Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/australia-new-zealand-51/
to find other members in your part of the World.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you Graham. I was also surprised that this Jag was discarded, all because of asthetic deterioation. Previous owner picked this car up in 1988, used it till 2013 then stored it in a factory yard. I've got all the the service records and BL "Mastercare" documents along with a tape cassette from Jaguar Cars that were stuffed inside the glove box. A crying shame to wreck such a car. One mans trash can be anothers treasure I suppose
