Default Should I??

2005 Jaguar S-TYPE Sedan 4D

Considering this new to me Jag, looking for some input on whether or not it’s a potential at home fix for a gain from someone else’s loss. Price in mind.

Thanks in Advance

AD: $2,000 FINAL AS IS...RUNS GREAT but...Full disclosure: Car has a few codes, mostly sensors that needs to be taken care of to pass emissions. Approximate cost $800. Back windows wont work. Hood and trunk now has sun damage on top, other than that, not one ding or scratch on the car. Just noticed a crack on the windshield. Never been in an accident, flood etc. There is about 500 miles on the new $6000 transmission. (That alone is worth it) Yesterday (10/24/20) Put in a brand new $277 Battery w/3 year warranty. She's been great but need to give her up, bought two new cars... Read Less

ISSUES:

‘Some O2 sensors, so it will pass emissions and a couple more sensors and the other things are like the back two windows need new motors and there now is a crack in the front windshield.’

Welcome to the Forums.

The members in the S Type (X200) Tech Section will have opinions.

I say no, very neglected, and I am reading between the lines.

Good luck.

Hello,
If it won't even pass Emissions it's worth junk price hereabouts, not even considering all the other faults you list.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Sommer. Middleton,

I would want to know EXACTLY which codes to even begin to understand what may be needed. It reads like someone has already had a go and either realised it's beyond their skills or beyond their bank balance. You may be able to fix it up with the knowledge of the forum and sourcing used parts but it's a gamble.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...r-atlantic-66/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

I am an S-type owner and yet I would pass too... I thought some of the codes might be battery related, but per the advert, it says that the battery has been replaced. Spend more and get an S-type with a sound service history and have it inspected prior to purchase. Then you will have an solid idea of what you are getting.
