Default sorry I'll b gone

I had an awful time trying to sign up to this Forum because the password wouldn't go through to sign on, then I posted to the wrong board causing someone the grief of moving my question to another board where it still got no reply. I got schooled that I needed to post to the Newcomer board, so I have though I'm not quite sure why I bothered. I'm thinking the best thing I can probably do at this point is to go buy myself something else and forget my love affair with this 2002 X-Type Jag. So, I'll say I'm sorry for the trouble I caused. Both owning the car and trying to find an answer for her problem has been a perplexing experience. I can see this forum is a great place for a lot of people. Too bad I wasn't one of them. So have a great day and adieu.

Patience is the key, you can't always have an answer straight away. We all sleep at different times.
Welcome either way.

welcome to the forum - No need to part ways as Clarke mentioned this is an international forum so time zones vary for some of the techs who offer advice. Moving the post to the right section is not a big deal for us mods - it helps the members get the right support and visibility to their questions.

We like to get to know a little about new members, plus posting in the new member section allows proper welcome from other members as well as allowing us to provide links/tips so you can navigate more easily.

For your X-type, I see you've posted in the X-Type area but here is the direct link:

X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

recommend adding it to your favorites.. There are a ton of how to's and downloads in that area as well - so be sure to check out the first few threads.

for local events/news - check out the Midwest US regional section:
Mid West US - IL IN IA MI MN MO OH WI - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum

lastly - recommend adding a signature to your profile by clicking the user cp link in the upper left - include model and year to ensure best replies from the techs to your questions.

Hope you stick around and enjoy both the forum and the Jag!!

I'm sorry you've had such a hard time signing up, but you're here now.

Any time we do something new it takes a while to learn the ropes, so to speak. No one does anything Perfectly the first time unless they themselves are Perfect.

Stick around! You'll find lots of fun and information here for your car and other things you never thought you'd stumble upon.

Welcome from ElinorB.

akejama:

I second all of what's been said. Folks around here are really quite friendly overall; and it does sometimes take a few posts to learn the ropes, so to speak. I'd hang in there if I were you and see what you can learn about your car. I've found the forum to be a great place to find moral support, even when I can't find the answer or can't figure out how to repair something.

Don't worry about having caused any trouble, because you haven't.

Hope you stick around!

Cheers,
Scott

Appreciate the comments. I'll see how it goes with my problem, which I'll follow to see if I can learn anything. It was a truly bad start to a seemingly well intentioned forum. Thank you.

Welcome aboard the forum.

I read your post with intrigue and decided to investigate...

You initially posted into the wrong forum section, no one made any comment, instead our Supermoderator Graham kindly moved it to the correct area on your behalf.
This didn't cause Graham and grief, its what he and the rest of the team do to help members, for free out of their own time.

The "request" that you and other newbies do an intro, is again for your benefit. It gives the other members and the mod team a chance to welcome you onboard and help as required.

You have also received good solid advice on your issues with other members trying to help??

As for your initial sign up issues, I can only assume perhaps operator error as we have very few issues of this type.

I do understand your frustrations with your vehicle and its issues, but please don't berate the members or this forum, as we genuinely care and do try to help.

Thinking good thoughts for you...

Owning an older Jaguar can be perplexing! It is astonishing, some of the problems that come up. Some due to age, others due to mistakes, or previous owners' lack of interest or proper upkeep. But we are all here because we believe the Jaguar driving experience is worth the effort! You are entitled to that too. Overall, this is a very friendly place to look for advice, and even entertainment. Most problems are (eventually) solved here in the forums, through a group effort. You are welcome here.

And thank you for your polite post, despite your frustration.

As far as this particular board goes, posting to it has been a complete and total catastrophe. I don't do turmoil well, I don't like turmoil, and at my advanced years I prefer to avoid confrontation whenever possible. So to the gentleman from Scotland, Please accept my apology or apologies for as many transgressions as you accuse me of committing and understand I wish you the best. What an absolutely horrible experience this has been in simply trying to make new friends while seeking help with my auto.
Please note: (I came back and edited this post after I read Clarke of Brisbane's kind comments. I believe he will understand. Thanks Clarke, and may everyone have a great day.

What, the UK?
From all accounts the sun don't shine there.

Sorry to see you go,but also we do not need attitude.

I had great advice from Moderator Cambo351 a while back, "don't take things too seriously"

Seems to be working for me.

Thank you Clarke, of course you are correct. I will take your advice and therefore edit my prior comment before moving on. Godspeed and have a great day!

Thanks akejama for editing that post before it was exposed to lot of members who would be offended by it.
No, I do not understand. We are just a lot of Jaguar owners searching for motoring bliss like yourself, only willing to be patient and share our experiences.
We part ways disagreeing, sorry your time here was so distressful for you.

For what it's worth, forums generally follow a more or less standard pattern in the way they're organized and operate. It might not be the way we'd do it ourselves if it was our own private board but the present set up seems to work very well for the majority. The learning curve for this might be steep but is worth the effort.

I read your tech questions and thought you received some very helpful and accurate advice on each one. Possibly the mention of having a 'clutch' may have confused some posters given that your car has an auto transmission.

It seems that todays society expects instant and easy results.

As most here on the forum know, we try our best to be helpful and resolve peoples vehicle issues, we also try to be polite and friendly whilst doing that.

Unfortunately yet again it seems that it isn't easy or quick enough...

We'll soldier on regardless I guess.
