Default Surplus Vintage Jaguar Parts

Good Morning from South Central Wisconsin,
My name is Vern and I am currently trying to help a good friend of mine "downsize". He raced and or restored Jaguars in the 70's -90's but has now decided to start the process of "cleaning house". He has a boatload of Jag engines, transmissions, suspension parts, etc., but does not remember what year or model they came from. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I would make sure these go to someone, for a very fair price, that is knowledgeable and would put them to good use? Thanks.
Vern

My neighbor across the street had a Porsche Boxer that he bought new but ultimately had some kind of catastrophic failure under 50K miles, I forget exactly what, whether it was engine or transmission. Anyway he tried to sell it whole, but felt like the offers he was getting were way too low. It sat in his garage for two or three years. Finally when he needed to move and put the house up for sale, he contacted the local Porsche club. One of the officers came over and helped him figure out prices for individual parts. Some of the club members then came and over a couple of days, stripped it bare. The shell then went for scrap. My neighbor said he made quite a lot more off the parts than he'd been offered for the whole car. Had he tried to do it himself, it would have taken infinitely longer to remove, advertise and ship each part and probably would have undersold some parts.

If there is a nearby Jaguar owners club, start by contacting them. Sounds like you'll need somebody who can come in person and help identify parts. The person you're looking for is that somebody who's Jaguar sub-hobby is buying and/or selling parts at swap meets. The nearest club should be able to put you in touch with somebody like that. My hobby is vintage Corvettes and I'd be lost without Scott, our local parts scrounger.
