By accident, I stumbled upon a 1988 XJ6 Vanden Plas. I’m going to be seeing it later this week. By the pictures, it looks very clean and well kept. However, the owner died a few years ago. I’ve been told the brakes are soft, so it will need to be towed. From what I’ve read so far, electronics and rust are two areas that can ruin the fun. For reference, this would not be a daily driver but I would like to use it for long distance travel. It has about 120k on it and trunk and hood supports need replacement. I’m not even sure what would be a good price for this. Usually when I purchase a car, I take it in for service in order to set a baseline and ensure safety. Then I DIY depending on what is required. Also, I’m having difficulty finding the values for this generation. Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Otherwise, I’ll provide an update after I see it on Friday.
