Third time's the charm...?
Hello!
Officially joined today after lurking around for a few weeks. I purchased a nice low mileage (79,000) 1995 XJR last month after looking for one for some time. As you can see by my well thought out and highly original screen name,
its Black on Black (Seems like most of them were). Looks to have been well cared for and is in very presentable condition inside and out. (And the price was fair.)
This is my third Jag after a couple of Series III’s including a stock but very rusty ’82 and an then an unrusted ’85 from California that had been “lumped” with a Tuned Port 5.7 from a late Eighties Z/28. This XJR seems to hit the mark I never quite found with the other two, “Go fast…but with class!”
The only things that I found wrong on the 3 hour drive home after purchase is that I would need to soon replace a well worn and noisy front wheel bearing (replaced both sides this last weekend), and the radio volume control is somewhat “hit or miss”. I will also be shopping for tires as the Directional BF Goodrich’s on there now need replacing due to age, not wear. Then as I always do with any car new to me is the oil, filters, belts and hoses. Wow. Have any of you changed out all the cooling system hoses on an XJR??? There seems to be about 13 or 14 of ‘um! I still need to find a supplier for a couple of them, plus make sure I have all the correct ones before I even think about starting the task. It looks like it will be an all weekend job.
Lots of good info here, and I look forward to spending some time poking around the site.

Thanks All!
No fear of the DIY. I've been doing my own repairs since my first car at 13. I just take it slow and try to remember that somebody was able to put that part on so I should be able to get it off…right? Of course it doesn’t hurt having extra cars around to get to work if need be.
As far as the pix, I thought there was something in the forum rules about not being able to post pix until your 10th post? I’ll have to go back and check on that. If I can then I’ll put some up tomorrow.
