Throttle control unit on a 2000 S
while driving at 50 mph plus and going up a hill , the speed control gives the engine an extra boost andt quite often the “ Fail safe engine mode” is illuminated on the dash. The engine runs rough but still runs. When I turn the ignition off and immediately re-start it , the problem is eliminated. Occassionally , the “ Engine” light comes on and the codes P 1584 and P1589 are read off the code reader. Another time the codes P 1584 and P 1233 are given. I have tried to find a new Throttle control unit but have been told they are not available any more.
