Thumping noises in rear of my Jag
Hello All!
I’ll give this another chance, never received any feedback regarding the stalling.
While driving my car, there is a loud thumping noise coming from the rear of the car. Concerned about it. Only when I am driving over rough streets or lanes.
Your input is appreciated

You have just registered and this is your first post. What feedback and when?
No vehicle details and no location. Thus has all the signs of SPAM. Please convince me it's not.

So, I recently purchased a nice ‘97 Vanden Plas, and granted there is a loud aggravating thumping for the rear, I can’t be any happier than I am now.
I live in Beaverton,Oregon which is one of the larger suburbs within the Portland Metropolitan area. Just a stones throw from the locale JLR dealer that I hope to establish a working relationship with.
so I hope this sufficient to serve as my Introduction to the org.
Thx

1997 was a model change year so your Vanden Plas could be one of the last of the 6 cylinder XJ6 (X300) or an early V8 engined XJ8 (X308). However, the rear suspension is the same design on both models. A regular fault on these is failure of the 'A' Frame bushes (RH side shown arrowed in red):
When this happens, it allows metal to metal thumping when going over bumps. This is the first thing I would check for the issue you describe. Replacement bushes are available but they need to be pressed in.

Check the tires and wheels. Not sure where you live, but this sounds an awful lot like snow or ice jammed up in the wheel. Either that or you threw a tread. A quick inspection should tell you pretty quickly what's going on, but I will bet you the issue is tire/wheel related.
