I bought a 1998 XJ8 VDP one week ago that came with only one key. Since then I've been searching for non-dealer key sources but was not satisfied with any of them. Today I purchased a transponder key with cutting but w/o programming from Galpin Jaguar for $78! I'll try to program it tomorrow and share results.

the only way to program the key is via the IDS software, either by the dealer, or a v.good indy.

Sean B is absolutely correct! Online do-it yourself transponder key programming is for US vehicles, not Jaguars.
