I have a 2002 XK8, Unavoidably and regrettably the battery got flat over the winter. I recharged it, reset the windows and the car drives normally. That is except the audio system which does nothing at all. Completely dead, the ariel doesn’t rise the screen is blank, entering the code is useless. My handbook shows only two fuses associated with the system, both in the passenger side fascia panel, both intact. Does anyone have any ideas on how to power the thing up please?

Welcome to the forum tyke,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

After eliminating the obvious of pushing the ON/OFF/VOLUME button to power it ON and checking the fuses, the next thing is to remove the headunit to check for power at the harness connector.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thank you Graham, I'll try to find that. I haven't put any more details on the site, my name, nationality and car details are already there, I'm afraid I'm strongly averse to social media generally.
Regards

I'm also averse to social media and disclose nothing that would identify me individually or allow anyone to find me. However, we have a minimum level of disclosure essential to make the forum work:

1. Vehicle Model and Year
2. Location - Country is adequate for UK/other European countries; City/State for US

The reason for this is Jaguar model specifications vary across World markets. Advice or an answer that is applicable to a vehicle in one country may be misleading or even dangerous in another.

Hello again Graham,
I'm sorry if I appear slow, but the information you ask for is there on my screen and when I look at the profile "As others see you" it is visible. I'm not antisocial nor do I have any unlterior motive I just don't like putting information into the ether if it doesn't need to be there. For example If everyone thought similarly we probably wouldn't have Trump in the White House or be leaving the EU. Whichever side you voted for isn't important, it's the fact that the results were skewed because they were able to be skewed. Without the easy access to data that would have been very much more difficult and we might have achieved some sort of democracy. Notwithstanding, what is it that you would like to see that you can't please?
Regards

Compare your post with mine:

tyke1-tyke.jpg
(double click on the image to enlarge it)

I show Location = Durham, UK
Vehicle Details = 2014 XK 5.0 Signature Coupe

I have revealed only the information necessary for the forum to function and for members to know as much as they need to about me. We are an International forum - other members need to see which country/time zone I am in and the market specification of my Jaguar. All I ask is that you display a similar level of detail.

However, if anyone were to come to Durham, it would be extremely difficult to find me or my car as the registration number in the photo is not the one it carries.

Anyone trawling through my posts will find little personal information. If the forum servers are hacked and my data is stolen, my full name is not revealed (I am registered with the email address jaguarforums@outlook.com) and my Date of Birth is the correct year (1949) but not January 1st as listed.

Name and Date of Birth are the most dangerous things you can ever post on the internet (M*** J******, 30/0*/***7).

Not quite.

We have very few rules here but membership is a privilege. You can either have the courtesy to comply or I can protect your anonymity completely and effectively by permanently banning you from the forum.
