Default Valve cover what torque to tie the screws

Hi
I have Jaguar XJ6 1990 6L 4.0L I replaced the gasket it was dry like a bone,
also the Philips screw were loose, I find in one place to tied them in 10-12 Nm
torque I find out that if I get to that torque I will break the screw, my question is?
what torque to use and there are no lock washers? only those plastic once?
no wonder the screws get loose.

Welcome to the forum shtekler,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The screws on the camshaft cover do use washers (see item 6):

I can see you've already found your way to the XJ40 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. That is the place to post technical questions about your model.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link US Northeast - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
