Default XJ owner for many years in UK and US - Hi

Hi

Long term Jag owner but new to this forum.

I started my love affair with a 2003 silver X350 XJ6 Sport with the 20' seeping alloys, who knew you could get 40mpg and have that much fun. This car was fully loaded with adaptive Cruise Control, NAV/TV etc. The only modifications I added was the OEM ACM (Audio Control Module) that adds iPhone support.

My wife joined the party with a 1999 British Racing Green XKR (original shape) and then progressed to a Gray 2007 XKR (new shape) and currently drives a 2014 XK 5.0 Portfolio, I guess this must be one of the last.

I followed up the XJ6 with a new 2009 XF 3.0 Petrol Automatic which was once but I was expecting the fun of the XJ and it just wasn't there. Following the XF I went to the dark side and bought a BMW E35 530 which is still a fantastic car.

Just in the process of emigrating to the US, I am already here (FL) and the wife is closing out a few loose ends in the UK and will move out here later in the year. Without a credit history in the US getting any sort of lease or load is tough so it was with heavy heart I scoured eBay for a cheap second hand car....... and there she was 70K miles..... Dark Gray (that's how they spell it here) 2004 XJ8. I would not have considered the 4.2 in the UK with petrol at $10 a gallon but here in the US it is $1.84 at the moment so why the hell not have a 4.2.

So I still have the BMW on the drive at home (for when I pop home) but my heart is here in the US with the XJ.

I thought I did a good thing getting the Premium Sound System so I could upgrade it easily but I am having some issues with that and that is why I am here so if any of you can help I would appreciate it.

Regards

Welcome.

That fuel price in the USA is insanely cheap.

We are running at $1.30 per litre.

Enjoy the transition, and the mighty 4.2.

Welcome to the forum smartbuddy,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Your wheels? I think they'll be 'Sepang' split rim alloys.

I can see you've already found your way to the X350 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
