Default New to the forum

Hi all,

Just took delivery of a 2001 XK8, Roman Bronze w/ 24k miles on the clock. Had it transported from New York to Minnesota on an open car transport and when it arrived, it was so dirty I couldn't tell what color it was. It looked OK so I tipped the driver and sent him on his way.

After I got it in the garage and washed it, I found a dime sized rock chip on the windshield. Too late to claim it so I guess I'll try the epoxy windshield repair and see how well it works. Anyone had any experience with it?

Default XK8 Christmas present

In 2006, I bought a 1998 XK8 with 26k miles on it. I thought then (and still do) that it was one of the prettiest cars I had ever seen. I sold the car less than 2 years later and, even though it was a little hard to get in and out of, I have never missed a car so much.

My constant sighs of regret must have paid off as my better half allowed me to get another one for Christmas! This one is a 2001 with 24k miles. My first one was white and I loved it but this one is Roman Bronze and I don't think I've ever seen a nicer color on any car. It's still hard to get in and out of, but once you're in it, you don't want to get out.

This forum is pretty cool. It's really nice to have a place to get questions answered by people who actually know what they're talking about!

Welcome to the club. I believe your own insurance company may cover the cost of repairing the windshield but it depends on your coverage--you should check. I have heard that the resin repairs by Safelite or others works pretty well.

Welcome again.

Getting in and out is a pain, as was the XJ-S for me.

Welcome to the forum copcardrvr,

(I've merged your two Intro threads.)

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Don't make the same mistake selling the second one.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the USA Mid West Region forum by following this link USA Mid West - IL IN IA MI MN MO OH WI - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
