XK8 Newbie
Evening all,
After five great years with my Alfa Romeo GTV V6, I decided it was time for a change. I had the opportunity to swap it for a 1997 XK8 in Aquamarine with just 50k on the clock—so I went for it! Picked it up yesterday and had a faultless drive back up the motorway, I was surprised to see 32mpg average!
Gave it a quick wash to clear off the road salt and grime before tucking it away in the garage. Hoping for some better weather soon so I can give it a proper clean, polish, and a thorough once-over. From what I know, some of the big-ticket items have already been sorted—chain tensioners done, recent water pump, thermostat, reinforced coolant hoses, and new belts. I believe the gearbox oil is due around 50-60k miles, so that’ll be on the list for this year.
One unexpected discovery—I was looking forward to finally having cup holders after five years without them, only to find out they were an optional extra… and mine doesn’t have them!
Looking forward to getting stuck into the forums and seeing what else is worth keeping an eye on. Any advice for a new XK8 owner is always welcome!
