just purchased my first (used) xkr. 2003, 40k miles. needs brake job. dealer wants 2900.00. is it possible to use after market pads and have the rotars turned? tires need replacing. any suggestions on brand that might prove more successful than the conti's that it currently has?
thanks

2900? That better be in PESOS or something. If thats in USD or Euros or Pounds w/e, tell them they can suck a big fat one and take it else where. About resurfacing the rotors, it all depends on the condition of the rotor and ofcourse you can use aftermarket pads. Use ceramic only though. Redstuff pads are highly recommended here on the site as we have a few members with them and they work awesome on their cars. That's what is going on my car soon!

bigdreams,
thanks for your previous reply. it was funny and useful. the price was in greenbacks. i told them your suggestion. anyway, i purchased the redstuff pads, had rotors turned and am at 458.00. now the brakes "screech" when stopping. very annoying. any suggestions.

Ehh, they're not supposed to screech, so most likely it's the contact points. Did you bleed you're brakes properly? Did you use any of the brake goo that they sell at the auto parts for the contact points? If you have, where did you have the rotors turned?
