F-Type coming?
I don't know if this has already been discussed but a few sources say that the F-type has been given the go-ahead by Tata. Is this a good thing (seems like a smart move to me).

If an F-Type comes on sale, it will not be the car Jaguar spent a lot of time on in the 80s, as that was based on the XJ40 mechanicals. It will likely be a smaller sports car than the current XK, (and hopefully cheaper !!)
The F-Type will likely be based on a modified XF platform based on what I've read. Supposedly will be shown at the 2011 Geneva show. There are some additional models being considered as well. They are: an X-Type replacement, an XF station wagon and an XF coupe.
Jaguar need all the sales they can get, and the XK cars are just too expensive for a lot of people who would like to have a sports car. So it makes sense to base a new F-Type on the XF, probably for mechanicals and suspension.
Whether it will be economic to keep to an aluminium body like the XK or keep to the steel of the XF, we will have to wait and see, but I doubt it could be made in aluminium at an economic cost if the car is to be in the XF price bands. Think in terms of starting at £35k (=$54k). The XKs are nearly double this, at least in the UK anyway.

Here in SoCal with the tremendous amount of Boxters, Caymans, BMW Z3/Z4, and Corvettes on the road, it sure seems like a no-brainer that Jaguar is missing out on a huge potential market.
The XK8 and present XK line are beyond the dollar budget and probably do not fulfill the performance requirements for the Boxter/Cayman/Z3/Z4/Corvette market, and folks who can afford XK prices but want true sports-car performance are likely going for Porsche. I have always thought that the market for XK8/XK is sort of a no-man's land and providing a model that is cheaper and sportier would be a winner.

Does anyone know more about this rendering?
It was stated to be the forthcoming XE, but is it possibly an F-Type.
Seemingly, we are to see something along these lines at Geneva next month, in celebration of the E-Type's 50 year anniversary (also released all those years ago at Geneva).
The E-Type is still today, the most beautiful car around (in my opinion).

This was Jaguar's concept of the F Type 2 years ago, whether Tata has carried on with it I do not know. They are considering a crossover vehicle and of course they have shown the CX75 600BHP electric gas turbine.
I would be seriously interested in an XF Coupe as a replacement for my 335i Coupe...depending on its driving dynamics.
