We've looked at the heater control valve with 2 solenoids, checked and they seem perfect. We are now checking power supply from the control unit. Are there any suggestions for possible cause? Keith (S type, 2008, V8 4.2 litre, 150,000 km)

Lots of threads to read, tends to be the same small set of things. Often a "working" DCCV is now low on ohms (if working at all) so takes out the module. Don't fix/change the module without being 100% sure the DCCV really is OK or you'll be doing the job again. (Swapping the DCCV is wise...)

 

Very common unfortunately. Will need DCCM valve or commonly called "heater control valve" replaced and a repair to the climate control circuit board.

Just incase you decide on the dccv, the rubber boots/seals do perish on the valves of the dccv. XR840091

Likely cheaper to import from the UK. than the local agent, even given import and taxes.

Who do most car type electronics, ECM etc for Audi ,BMW and Mercs, the big sellers, but should manage to do a Jaguar climate control unit.

I would double check wiring, DCCV, and the internal flap type dampers first, if not done so already.

 

If you check on eBay there are rebuilders of the climate control circuit board. They are pretty inexpensive and I've used them before. It is definitely worth the try given the cost of a new one.


Never fix the service board without replacing the heater control or DCCM valve.

 

Finally determined that the problems were with the DCCV and the climate control board. I looked at importing parts from UK and sourcing in South Africa. In the end I swallowed my pride and obtained a quotation from the local Jaguar agent (The Glen, Johannesburg) who has now done the job at a price marginally more than I could purchase the spares. They did an impeccable job at the quoted price. I'm driving cool again! I have the replaced parts which I'll have a good look at. Thanks for all the advice from the Forum!
