Hi again.

I am trying to figure out how to access the dome light on mt S Type (2006). There is a loose connection and the light doesn't come on when it should without pressing hard on the light lense. I'd like to look around up there without breaking the unit or getting electrocuted.

Any suggestions? I'm not very mechanically inclined.

I would get the JTIS which is free on this site. It's the factory shop manual. It has all of that kind of stuff in it.

By 'dome light' do you mean the Overhead Console? If so, here is the relevant extract from JTIS:

There looks to be plenty of opportunity for breaking plastic tangs if these aren't released properly. Perhaps someone who has removed and replaced the console could offer some further advice.

Start With The Front Edge And Just Use Light Pressure As You Pull Down On The Console. Don't Try Pulling The Clips Out In One Go..Instead Try To Pull On It In Stages By Tugging On It In Small Increments.

Are they Vee shaped clips with 'teeth' on them to grip the plastic? If so, they'll be the same as on the X300 / X308 / XK8 consoles. They have a bite like a rabid dog if you get hold of them the wrong way!
