~ Jaguar S Type 3.0 V8 ~
You won't get it to anything like 8000rpm, besides hasn't it got a red line a long way below that? (It's software rev-limited.)
I'm not sure whether the 4.0 can get to 150mph but regardless I'd worry whether it has the old tensioners etc.

You'll notice that there's no Jaguar badge at the top of your grill as this would be be a trademark issue. Genuine Jag grills are much pricier

As for you engine being 3 litre, that's as credible a story as the grill. Be glad you're only paying 3L taxes on a 4L car.
Thinking a bit more, I wonder if it's a fake V5/V5C (*)?
(*) British forms re car details incl. owner (fakes aren't especially common but do exist, plus some blanks were stolen!)
Might be worth checking all of the VIN plates are the same and match the form, too.

Well something is certainly not right. Either with the car or the documents. As per the esteemed Vet's above you need to make a close check.
In any case, your insurance is invalid if you have it down as a 3.0l car.
Perhaps someone went to the trouble of converting it to a later V8 engine.
But you need to make a thorough check, or pay for an HPI
And sort out your insurance, because from the info you have given here, you are driving uninsured, at best.
Nice looking car though.

While you're at it, get the water pump fixed. They tend to go south on the early model V8s. As mentioned above, it could be a 3.2 V8 since they sold them in the XJs during that time. I'm assuming this car didn't have problems with the Nikasil issue, but you may want to check that out as well.
i did not say they made an stype 3.2 v8
