No.

(Technically a "scanner" could not clear codes but I know what you mean.)

The idea is you perform a fix then clear the codes if you don't mind taking a chance that's a mistake, instead of waiting for the codes to self-clear (which they do if it's actually a fix).

Ok, thanks. My code reader on my '98 Ford V-10 motorhome clears the active codes, but they re-alarm right away. This reader doesn't work on the '98 XJ8. It's at a good shop now to get a fresh start.

Good move on the battery. 500 CCA's is what you start lawn tractors with (joke) A lot of those codes can be battery or a silly vacuum leak. I had a leak. It was a $5 part, the vacuum check valve on the power brake booster. I also have and Icarspot code reader that is just for jag/land rover. I got it on ebay and it seems good for part time wrenchers like me. Good luck .
